Making Headway

Since the new year began, I have been very slow in my progress, but progress has been made. I've been doing better about keeping track of my activities. I've made it to the gym once, and when I don't make it to the gym, I make a point of playing with my children. And I don't just mean playing video games or watching movies. I mean we run around, climb, jump, dance, wrestle. I help my daughter stand up and try to walk (she's almost 6 months old), carry her everywhere, and I go for walks with them both. Earlier this week, I turned a regular trip to the grocery store in to a serious workout where I pushed my daughter in her stroller, walked there and back, and carried the heaviest bag on my shoulder the whole way home. I was proud of that.

Better still, I've been doing a bit better about what kind of food I bring in to my home. Now, I can't say that I'm doing a stellar job. I mean, we did just get ice cream the other night, and a bag of cookies as well. The cookies are entirely gone (thanks largely to my husband, really!), but I've only eaten maybe half a dozen bites out of my little pint of ice cream. Not bad, right? And we got lots of vegetables to make side dishes for our meals. And one of our dinners this week was purely vegetarian.

We are still drinking soda, but I'm also making a point of drinking a great deal more water than I ever have. I have kept my kitchen stocked with different water flavorings, and I make a goal of drinking four bottles of water a day, minimum. So, there's progress. It's not a stellar turn around, but it's a good start, I think.
