Lessons Learned and Thinking Spring

This was the first full work week in a while. A major system upgrade thrown in for extra fun! Way to start off a new year.

There was overeating and a little lack of sleep this week but there was walking and yoga and the elliptical.

I kept pushing myself to walk laps in the gymnasium at work, even if it was only 10 minutes. I ran into a couple frustrating moments at work so I took some laps. It didn’t make the problem go away but it stopped all the detrimental churning going on in my system.

I had a couple sad moments so I took a few laps. It didn’t make the problems go away but it stopped the overwhelming feeling that usually takes over me when I get down about something.

I got a little aggravated at home over little things that were not worth getting aggravated over. I put on the Ashley Turner yoga DVD I recently discovered and it made the bad mood melt away. I also saw a little more progress in my flexibility which I’m focusing on for the Spark #RockYourResolution January challenge.

There was a great orthopedic visit this week. I seem to have the plantar fasciitis under control and got the all clear to continue running. I actually got a little teary when he told me. I laughed at myself. Five years ago, I would have cried in a different way if someone told me I had to start learning to run! I will continue to perform the exercises and stretches two days a week that they taught me.

The arctic blast we have been under is moving out and I’m thinking spring. The St. Patrick’s day 5K is 64 days away and I intended to run it again with my daughter. If I have to walk most of it, that’s fine with me
