Somewhat a productive day today! Was going to post blog earlier to list a TO-DO list for today but…instead I just jumped into the day. So I guess this is more of a WHAT DONE list instead.
Woke late but wanted to try a new recipe in the crock pot. Was thrilled when I created it in SP and found it wasn’t actually a crock pot recipe but a Dutch oven - whew - so I was able to make it for my dinner tonight. Then of course as I was creating this recipe into SP I found a lot of discrepancies with some of the food items, mainly in the seasonings / spice area. It seems many people just assume that spices do not have calories, but in fact they do have “some”. But besides the small amount of calories many neglect to include the fact spices contain a lot of SODIUM!!!! This is very important when creating recipes.
So needless to say I “wasted” most of my day entering in spices for my manual use in my recipe today and for future recipes. I also enjoy making a lot of my own season mixes to lower the sodium count as well. I've posted taco seasoning and now just posted Italian seasoning.
I really enjoy making recipes but have the problem that I can’t just leave a recipe alone. I’m always trying to change it up a bit by lessening the fat, sodium or sugar and sometimes is just as simple as figuring out that some things can just be omitted - like added salt. To use FRESH over canned. Although when using canned, you can drain and rinse before adding and this will actually cut the sodium in half of what is stated on nutritional fact label.
Oh and I’m thrilled to have gotten in 2 small 10+SPARKS in as well a 45 minute run/walk to complete my 10,000 steps for today -
