Feeling overwhelmed

Maybe I'm starting to feel my age, or maybe I just have more going on in my life these days? I just feel like I have too many projects going on right now. Juggling too many balls?

But some I can't drop, and some I don't want to drop.

The things I need to do, of course, are things like basic housework, meal planning and food prep, and going to my job that I enjoy on most days.

Other things I want to do are projects around house like de-cluttering, writing & blogging, scrapbooking of previous vacations, birthdays and holidays, and of course making an album of my beloved Miss Kitty.

I would also like to have some down time for reading, and watching some TV or movies.

Not on my list, but should be: grocery shopping & errands, playing with Luna the Lunatic, and -- exercise!

I know everyone has this issue, especially working parents! I guess I just needed a little rant.

Last night I spent a little time playing the video game Epic Mickey; it's cute! Plus I made some soup at the same time, pausing to add ingredients and check it, etc., and to play with the cat. Seemed like a fair trade-off.

But this morning I spent time berating myself for not getting enough done, and how cluttered and messy my place is. I know, I know - that doesn't help anything, but still…

So my plan is to spend a little time making a list of everything I need or want to do, and try to break up my weekend into time slots so I can get a little of each thing done. Yeah, sounds a bit anal retentive to me, too! But it's the best I can do!

And Nana just called to see when I'd be visiting again!

    It's amazing to me how when I'm really busy I can get lots done. And... sometimes I feel like one of those wind up toys that slowwly getttts wooounnndd doooowwwwnnnnn. And I can't get going again. Having guests coming is a great motivator (my work) and if I did not have lists... oh my! I think a trick is to really stop and rest. Whether it is a nap or chapter of a book or crossword. Then go! Certainly exercise gives me more energy. You can do this! Just push that snowball up the hill...

    It doesn't sound anal retentive to me at all. Focus your thoughts, make a doable schedule and follow it. Simple. LOL LOL LOL

    With this recent nasty weather I have rediscovered some old movies in my basement and have been watching one a night while I exercise. Walking and jogging along while whatever is happening on the screen. And it has really increased my step count for the day. Nice way to unwind. Afterward I plop in a chair and cuddle my cat, Max. It's a win-win for both of us!

    Well the cluttered stuff should just be slotted into a few hours , even if its an hour a weekend. First you should look at different organizing ideas to see what will work for you. It really helps to have the proper storage areas to keep clutter down. If everything has a place to be its easier to cut down on crap buildup.

    I couldn't do without to do lists.
Some author I read said that these days, we all want EVERYTHING. The media and our culture suggests we can have it all. We want to have a nice tidy home, a wonderful job, be good parents (pet owners), have wonderful hobbies, and spend time with friends.
Reality is that we cannot HAVE it all because indeed, there are not enough hours in the day to realize all that. So reality is that we need to accept that some areas in our life will be going well and others will not be going so well. That's life, the author said. It becomes easier if we accept it! I find that hard to accept, but I think she was right!

    Sounds like a good plan to me. I make lists that include two things I want to get done every day during the week - and I limit it to two. My two today are to finish the novel I'm reading and clean the floors. When I get those two done, I'll be happy even though I probably have a million other things to do. Tomorrow is another day!!
