2014....

Thursday, January 09, 2014

So far this new year has not been so great. My father-in-law, whom I love dearly was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer and the doctor gives him about 2 months. He is taking it pretty good, but the rest of the family is freaking out. I am trying to be the calm one and they are upset about that. But they don't realize that I see and deal with this every single day in my job as Hospice Nurse. I am being realistic and want him to have the best time for the last couple weeks.
So I am trying to stay strong for my family and still keep on sparking. I am so grateful for my friends that are standing with me through all the good and bad times.

I am so sorry to hear that news. It is good your family has you, who can be strong for them. Being a nurse that gives you that advantage.

I am every impressed that you can perform in such an emotional profession with such fortitude. Good for you; I would be unable to. Very sorry to hear of your F-I-L too; that never is easy even when one is not connected to the person. Good luck that that, sincerely.

And now I close my note to you as I close all of them:

This is difficult - I would think even though you deal with end-of-life issues every day, it brings a whole new dynamic when it is someone you're close to. You have a better idea than most what to expect. Just remember to reach out if YOU need support!
