This is my favorite time of the day and least favorite time of the day all rolled into one. It's time for my kids to get their snacks, their showers, and then bed time. I imagine anyone could tell why it's my favorite time of the day, but, just in case you don't get it, it's the part where they go to bed and the blissful silence that follows. Sometimes I will even turn off the tv or radio and just sit in the silence.
But to get to the silence I have to get through the choosing of the snack. My kids normally get three choices for snack. Cereal, small bag of chips, or ice cream. Every night it is the same choice and the same "I don't know what to have" argument with at least one of them. Then we argue about whose turn it is to take their shower first. Then we argue and fight for room at the sink to brush teeth. Next, it's delaying bed by asking 10,000 questions (keep in mind I have 3 kids so that's at least 30,000 questions.) Then, it's the "but I didn't pee" or "I need a drink" excuse. And last, but certainly not least, we have the "but I'm afraid of the dark" even though there are night lights all over the place and you could practically read a book in their rooms it's so bright.
It all makes me want to eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's while I enjoy my silence. Too bad that is not an option any more.
