As we know one of the main things about this journey to being healthy and ultimately more happy (hopefully) is what we eat each day and how many calories we take in and expend during our day. With that said I want to talk about what we drink and how we can be "drinking our calories away".
We have all heard this phrase from time to time and I have heard in ad nauseum over the last few weeks but never really cared what it meant until yesterday. I was taking a supplement yesterday in liquid form that helps me to get a boost of energy instead of drinking coffee. I love this supplement but upon mixing the supplement with a base liquid and calculating the calories I was SHOCKED to see it was a 50 Calorie energy boost! I was kind of frustrated because up until now I had not even thought to look at the calories I was consuming with this supplement and seeing this number was just too much.
This brings us to the point of this entry. How many calories do we drink in a day? I honestly do not know outside the coffee right now but I know things like orange juice and other juices not only pack on the calories but also the sugars and such. I have been really working on drinking water over that last couple of weeks instead of Crystal Light, soda, or the like. Yesterday's shock really made me think about where my liquid calories are going and where I can save those calories for something more worth while. Just some "food for thought"
Happy mid week!
