Poll time! What's your biggest motivation?

Tuesday, January 07, 2014

Some sources of motivation for any goal can come and go at a drop of the hat, but the best motivation for any goal is the kind that sticks around for the long haul.

So what's your biggest motivation?

My motivation is knowing that if I got my health in order, there's a whole lot of good things that I could do I can't currently do now in my condition, thereby adding a source of happiness to my life, and hopefully a bright spot in the world for others. As heavy as I am, over 400 pounds, I find my life is centered so much on just surviving sometimes and getting through the day. For me, that just doesn't feel right. Losing the weight will give me a chance to readjust that focus right where it should be, and that's my goal.

    My biggest motivation:

to be healthy enough to play freeze tag with my grandchildren, when & if (!) they arrive.

My biggest motivator has been the reduction in aches and pains that I experienced as I lost weight and built strength.

That is so awesome that you are motivated. Move as much as you feel comfortable. Every movement, step, counts. You CAN do it. You will feel better and better.

Feeling happy and improving my health are two big motivators for me. I exercise practically every day because it helps to relieve pain in my knees from osteoarthritis and emotionally keeps me in check. What helps me is getting comfortable clothing on first thing in the morning and getting on my stationary bike for 10 minutes. Once I am on the bike I usually ride for 30. It took a number of months to work up to 30.

Your blog is great! I appreciate your asking and being interested.

I am rooting for you because I believe in you. If I can do it, you can too!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

That's a wonderful source of motivation:

My goal is to just feel sexy!

Success motivates me. That can be contradictory, too... if I slip or cease to progress, I go into some sort of funk and have to be harsh with myself to get back on my plan.

I do try to keep in mind how much simpler or at least less difficult my life is going to be when I finally reach my goal. So much easier to find clothes. To get around (it's tough to be even 200+ pounds and disabled!). I anticipate so many more health benefits - just feeling good! or better, anyway.

Motivation is a daily guidepost for me.
