Great Check-up

Tuesday, January 07, 2014

Well, yesterday I braved the cold weather and went for my annual check-up. For once I was not dreading stepping on the scale. With my clothes on, I weighed about a pound more than my scale at home which I anticipated. My doctor was very pleased with me. He said "do you know you've lost over 40 lbs?!" I told him, "yes, I know." He asked me what I was doing and I told him. I also told him I had a goal of about another 30-35 lbs and he was in agreement. I had decreased my blood pressure medication in half on my own and he told me that was fine and my new prescription was for the half dose and he is hopeful that with my continued weight loss I'll be able to come off of it completely. I will be heading back in another year.

I did get my lab results back today and everything looked great! My glucose which had been trending up over the years into the high 90's is now 86. My liver enzymes which were elevated due to a fatty liver are now well within the normal range. Also had my mammogram done and on Thursday I'll have my cholesterol done through my company's biometric screening program. That I am not worried about as it was good last year and even after having lost 10 or 15 lbs, my triglycerides were in the normal range.

Then I braved the cold temperatures last night again and went to the gym and had my first full session with my trainer. She is great and I think I'm really going to benefit from this. Home to dinner cooked by my husband and a movie in front of the fireplace. All in all a good day!

Stay warm everyone!

Sounds like a perfect day. I agree with Stacy. You should have looked at your doctor and said, "are you kidding? I never would have known if you didn't tell me" But that is just the smarty pants in me talking. I am glad you had such a great ending to your day as well. You done good!

Wow, that's a fantastic day. Congrats on your numbers! That's wonderful!

I had to chuckle about anticipating the Doc's scale registering a higher weight. It's the same for me and seems to be some sort of understood law of the universe, haha.

Go you!
