Taking some tips from the show . . .

Do not expect to lose 5 lbs a week, much less 10+. Am sure their weight losses are not PER WEEK, even though the show makes it seem like it is. 5 lbs is a 17,500 calorie deficit. of course, they are getting to exercise 8 hours a day while the rest of us are chained to our desks!

am learning that
(1) have to PUSH. Even if I don't want to exercise. Even if I'm tired. Even if I'm bored with the routine. JUST DO IT!
(2) PAY ATTENTION, all the time!! That means being conscious of posture, doing isometrics when nothing else can be done. Standing on line? tighten buttocks and release. tight stomach muscles and release. Breathe. Waiting at the copier, do toe raises, bicep curls, push ups off the machine. Stand when you can rather than sit. walk as far as you can to do common errands. shadow box in the rest room for a couple of minutes.

Since I work from home, have more opportunities than some. Then again, less than others.

Have discovered that Techno dance music is my friend. The cable offers music channels and their techno dance is constant high paced rhythm. We all certainly know the moves - and being particularly un coordinated, keeping my own routine works better than trying to follow someone else and feeling uber clumsy!

one of those modern pedometers with the automatic upload is our friend! become aware of how accurate the particular unit is, so you can adjust accordingly. This helps keep the SP log going even if you don't have time to post. It is also allowing me to really track if I'm using more than I'm taking in. Right now, am more like 300 calorie a day deficit than the 500 I'm striving for, but this keeps me honest. Yesterday my deficit was only 62 calories, and that helps me see what and where I'm going wrong.

and now its time to get back to work
