Day 1 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred

WOW! She kicked my butt that's for sure. The warm up wasn't too crazy, but then we started the 3-2-1, which sounded not too bad in theory on the DVD, but it was intense. Her strength moves were super intense, and I have a really weak upper body. It made it hard to push through the cardio. Because of it, I've decided I need lighter weights. 5lbs is too much when I'm not counting reps, just the clock, at least in this stage of the game.

About halfway through the DVD I couldn't really hack it anymore. I paused it and sat down to catch my breath. I kept getting dizzy and overheating. I realized I could turn it off, or I could push through it. I was only going to let myself down if I did.

So I stood up, and I finished the workout. I modified what I had to, including during the cardio when I'd have to stop working as hard and just marched in place. It wasn't smooth, but I did it the best I could. And tomorrow I'm going to do it again, because I'm doing this for me... even if it does feel a bit like punishment right now! Haha.

  I'm so proud of you! I'm still debating on which Jillian Michaels DVD to start with. I may join you in the 30 day shred workouts. Today will be Day 1 for me. I was going to wait and now I'm like...ehhhhh, why wait?

    Good for you for finishing! I love all of Jillian's DVDs -- I just did the Ripped in 30 level three this morning. I have found that they DO really improve my fitness AND I have muscles -- particular in the shoulders and arms. However, even after doing 30 day shred for a while, that level one combo of push ups and squat/raises just kills me! I almost always have to take a five- second break, or keep squatting without doing the raises. So do NOT let the difficulty get you down -- it's supposed to be hard! Just take your breather and then keep going. It's good to just march in place to catch your breath but try to keep moving. emoticon emoticon emoticon
