Talking with myself

Monday, January 06, 2014

I'm sitting here getting ready for work and I realized I didn't have time this morning to get in a good run. Well, I sort of have time, but then I'd be sweaty with ikky makeup/hair and we can't have that, ya know?

So, I guess on Mondays I will have to start making sure to get up extra early (just as light hits) or make it a point to do my pm exercises. I'd like to do am and pm just to cover basis, but we all know how that goes.

Like many others, I'm feeling the post holiday budget stress so groceries are looking a little grim this week. I am going to make it a point to utilize what we have and Pintrest some recipes. Studies have shown January to be the most "depressing" month and money issues are up there with the reasons. Crazy right? ugh.

On the bright side though, I have removed any remnants of Christmas and have pushed forward into 2014. I have replaced the villages on my table with.....a sewing machine! My Kate and I have a pattern for prom and that's a project her and I will work on for the next four months. Hubby thinks we're crazy. Maybe. But, if it doesn't work out we have over 30 other prom dresses in my closet to choose from. LOL

So, anyhow....it's almost the first week into January. Things are settling down. the hype is starting to wear off but that's okay. I am still pressing forward. I've still have goals for the month of January and like many other Sparkies taking baby steps to reach them.

January:

Clean and ORGANIZE the house. I have discovered I really own a lot of useless stuff. And although I want to minimize I don't know if I venture to go as far as to say I'm a minimalist (or becoming one) I'd like to think that, but we'll see. So, this month to keep it baby steps I will sell all of my school text books. I probably have about 50? and I know they are worth money...I will never read them all so why am I hanging on to them? I could use that money towards Ms Kate's dress or...

169....................that fieaking elusive number. I will get it this month. This hanging onto 170.3-173 is redunkulous and will end, hopefully with daily running and Hip Hop Abs.

Eating right: You can out exercise bad nutrition. Period.

there, seems simple enough and "on paper".

Heading into work now.

Keep Sparkin Sparkies!! emoticon

Organization is wonderful. Frees up space you never knew you had and as a bonus it also helps reduce stress you didn't even know you had until its gone. Less stress = easier weight banishment!

When I moved 18 months ago I had to go through every last thing in the house. 1/3 moved with me; 1/3 went into storage and the final third was donated or trashed. So I have literally gotten rid of 60% of my possessions...and realized I don't even miss most of them! I'm not a minimalist but I have discovered that less is better!

I can't wait to see the finished dress! I also want to organize the house and think of a million ways how to and then don't. It is a goal this year to get that done however! I think that this is the 1st Jan that I'm not scrapping money together to pay for everything. I don't know how I did it either because I swear I would be this way every year! LOL

But I CAN keep working slowly but surely on the decluttering...

You're funny and lively. I always enjoy your blogs. I, too, am decluttering. Was going to save it for a rummage sale this summer but I'm giving most of it to my niece. She said she'll take it. It feels good to see it go! Which it will do tomorrow because it will be above zero for a high (hooray!) and I'll be willing to take 250-mile drive to see her.

There's something about his time of year that makes a person clean out the gunk. Probably because we're trapped in the house and living with it too much!

A sewing machine - what fun! I am envious - I am a stapler/taper and my mom is an incredible seamstress. I hope that January smooths out - I understand the blues (we get our January paycheck in December and it's nearly gone. Yikes!).
House cleaning and fitness minutes - you can do it!

I consider myself a crafty person, but sewing is impossible for me. It's a really great talent to have though, I wish I could sew! I figured out how to crochet when I was about 5 months pregnant with my daughter so I could make her a blanket...I'm still working on it and shes 8 now lol.
Organizing is something I am pretty good at, and one of the most useful tips I have come across is: If you haven't used it in 2 years, get rid of it
Good Luck!!!

It sounds like you have "defeated" the normal "January junk." I am so impressed with the sewing - I live in awe of those who sew!
