I've just become aware of a very bad habit that I've dubbed "pre-eating." When I'm making something to eat, or serving myself something, I have a terrible habit of eating part of whatever food I'm preparing. Then I go ahead and eat the portion I had planned on in the first place, rather than subtract the amount I have already eaten. I find myself doing this A LOT, and I have probably been doing it for a long, long time. If I am mindlessly eating this extra food, multiple times a day, that's a lot of extra calories that I don't need. Yikes.
It's going to be a hard habit to break, but it's not impossible. My goal for this week is to be aware of this habit or pre-eating and, if I find myself doing it, stopping to remind myself that I will get to eat in a few minutes, and that I can wait.
