Walkin Through My Town in the Snow

Sunday, January 05, 2014

This walk was brought to you today by inspiration from spark member BIGPAWSUP and further fueled by fitbit!

I was sipping my coffee this morning, watching the news with the awful snowy, icy reports YET AGAIN, very grumpy, when I saw spark member BUGPAWSUP post a status that she was heading out there with her dogs! I thought 'you're a better woman than I, no thank you!'

About an hour later I thought how pretty it looked outside and soon I was piling on layers. I walked through anywhere from three to six inches depending where I was. I even did a slow jog a bit through the park. SO EXHILERATING!

Fitbit also spurred me on. This thing has made me quite competitive. Last night about 8:00, I noticed I needed 4,000-something more steps to get into second place among my fitbit friends. My 1st place fitbit friend is always way up there! More power to her!

I popped on When Harry Met Sally, jumped on the elliptical and 40 minutes later I was in second place then finished laundry.

I will be doing a full body stretch tonight for my Spark January challenge. I just finished scrubbing the rest of the kitchen cabinets that I started yesterday.

Enjoy a winter song and pictures....

Sounds lovely! We're still waiting for the snow here in west coast Norway - it's unusually warm and just dark & rainy. Still making it out to walk most days - spurred on my a combination of the FitBit and the dog who doesn't care whether it's raining or not, still wants his walks. Keep enjoying winter, remember the scandinavian saying that there's no such thing as bad weather, just wrong clothes...

emoticon Great job getting over those winter blues and getting out there!

We don't have any fresh snow here but the temps are 15 to 20 below with wind chills of 35 to 45 below. School was just cancelled for the second straight day tomorrow. Not going anywhere near that but I will go out long enough to start the car and go to the gym (a mile away) in a bit here.

Tomorrow will be my first "outting' out of the house since my surgery. Even though it is just a doctor's appointment I am a bit nervous about venturing outside in this weather. A lot of people have been posting pictures of the beautiful winter wonderland out there. I think it is beautiful also although I can't hardly see out of my windows since the wind had filled our screens with snow (that's what I get for not taking them down this fall).

Despite how beautiful it looks, I think I am happy, warm, and content for now looking from the inside out!

You are better than me, I stepped out to take trash which I have been told is cancelled and I started the car for 10 minutes to make sure the negative temperatures do not kill the battery. The rest of the time I stayed indoors

Wow! Terrific walk in the snow! And good for you on getting all those steps in.

I was out walking on Friday and Saturday, but I didn't enjoy it. Too dang cold. It warmed up today - in the 20s, so it was OK being outside. But we'll be back to brutal cold on Tuesday - single digits.

You are so brave to go out in the cold and snow! I am planning indoor workouts for the next few days because I am not so inclined! I did get outdoors yesterday and today for a while, but it was still warm. Later on, no way!

I went for a walk in the cold today as well!

Ha! I have a Fitbit friend like that too! She's also a Sparker and I can NEVER EVER catch her, although I'm happy to be second.

Why aren't WE Fitbit friends???
