Day 3 - Big Veggie Shopping Day

Day 3 - Went to Aldi and bought a head of iceberg lettuce and a container of 'artisan' lettuces plus a bunch of kale and sliced mushrooms. Brought it all home and diced my little heart out and repackaged into my containers so I don't have to measure each time I want to eat. I like doing this, it makes mealtime so much easier for me. I have a small amount of sunflower seeds left from a few weeks ago and now that I know they are allowed I will add them to my salads. Also bought some tomatoes that I will dice up daily, so the salad doesn't get soggy. Had my beans again but I think I added in too much onion this time. Will have to watch it in the future. And my scale moved today. Not enough to register on my weight loss page but it is a hair off the mark now so it's something. I also got to Chapter 8 in the book and read it. It lists all the acceptable foods which should be eaten daily or occasionally. I can still have fish once a week if I want and I know I will, probably on Sunday when we have our big meal of the week. It doesn't really state how much we can have so I will probably just stick with the usual 3 ounce serving.

Did my usual running around with errands today. Fridays are such a waste. I get in very little exercise so I count it as my rest day. We all need those once in a while and it is nice to just relax and spend a quiet afternoon reading after all my chores are done.

Went outside today. It was -11 degrees F but sunny. Really makes you feel alive. I thought about taking a walk but while I was driving around town on my errands I really took a look at the roads and they are in pretty poor shape. I cannot wear just my walking shoes in that slop on the edge of the roads. So I dug out an old pair of hiking shoes, 2 pair actually. Brought them into the house to warm up (they were stored in the garage) and I will try them out tonight while I exercise in the basement. Whichever ones are the most comfortable I will wear on a short walk tomorrow to see how they work. Back to school Monday, so I need to be ready.

    Wow, I thought we were cold (well, we were), but we were above zero Fahrenheit, not below. It just sounds colder in Celsius because it was -17. The cold is okay for walking so long as you wrap up warm and it's not windy. The wind is the worst! Congratulations on keeping up with your exercise in the cold weather. I know how hard it can be.

    I'm glad you found something you like and that works for you. Are you really planning to walk to school on Monday? It's supposed to be -11 here. It can't be much warmer by you. Be safe!

The diet sounds healthy and congrats on the weight loss. emoticon Small is good. Big is good too but scary!

    School will be open on Monday even with this weather??? Wow! Good!

I'm sure you wear heavy-duty thick wool socks with those boots when you are walking.

Good job on the meal prep! And of course the selection of food items. ETL is a good program.

    I am waiting on the snow also.The Rocky Mountains have some unpredictable weather.It was almost 60 today and will be in the teens tomorrow.Stay warm.
