Happy new year! 2014 the year of GF, keep Eating Kale!

I find it very educational to go back over some of my older blog posts. Its so amazing how I can be so upbeat, have everything set to succeed then just fade off, gain back weight, com back, get all hyped up again, then repeat, repeat, repeat.

I am learning from my mistakes. I think back a few years and see how my eating has changed so much. Eating out is totally down to nothing. Well I should say fast food has disappeared from my life. If I eat out it's real food, like steak or chicken, real stuff not processed stuff like Subway or Wendy's, which is better the eating a whopper and fries but none of that stuff is good on a daily basis. Its just sodium and preservatives. If I'm out and starving, I'll grab a bag of almonds, cashews or pistachios, it fills me up and I just wait till I get home to eat.

I am still mostly eating primal. I avoid gluten because after not having it for three months starting last August I discovered I am actually gluten intolerant. On a low scale, not like I'll be deathly ill, I just feel like crap and eat bad food.

I know for a fact that eating gluten makes me tired, bloated and sets off cravings for junk food. I gained 8 pounds from Thanksgiving till New Year because I ate stuffing, cakes, bread, a few hamburger buns here and there. It was not even a daily thing but it brought back the tiredness, bloating cravings for other bad foods.

I've been gluten free since the 1st. I was mostly GF but would ruin it because I just wanted to have a "regular" Thanksgiving turkey sandwich (non-GF foods like stuffing & white bread) but it seems that for me once I eat gluten I feel crappy for days. So despite those setbacks I have learned something. I am getting closer to MY healthier way of eating. When I eat right the weight comes off.

I have stuck with eating kale every day in my shakes. I swear by that stuff! It has boosted my immune system like crazy! So far I have avoided one major illness that 5 other people in my household got and a round of strep throat that was also in my "circle" of people. I also add fresh spinach every other week for the iron boost as I tend to be anemic.

I've been happily using my Nutri-bullet for a few months now, love that thing!

So, while 2013 was not a huge year on the weight loss front, I've stayed in the same sized clothes and learned a whole lot.

We must move Forward, Not backwards, Upwards, not forward and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards ...better habits?

    Congratulations on everything you've learned. And thanks for sharing that your Nutri Bullet is still going, and you love it. I always look at those, and wonder if they really work.
