2nd day of 2014 and i just registered for my 1st ever 5K!!!

happy new year! it's been a while since i was a regular on here...

but exciting news... i just registered for my first ever 5K! i can't believe it because i've never really been a "runner" and i've gained 20 pounds since May because of a medication i was on... but hey... new year... one life.. and determination, right?! i'm really excited. i'm no longer on the medication that had weight gain as a side effect and i'm down 2 pounds. I'm determined to get my healthy, fit body back and i know i can do it... i've done it before. a 5K probably doesn't seem like much to regular runners but to someone who has never committed to one before and has never fancied running, it is a big deal! lol it's on april 26th, so i have plenty of time to get my self ready for it and to drop these pounds on the way... first time ever doing somethin like this and i'm already proud of myself for doing something outside of my comfort zone. this will keep me focused, for sure!

    Incredible! It's hard to think you never ran before, you look so incredibly lean in your pics! Was that all from weights, or did you also do some kind of cardio? Hope you've been keeping well and that your 5K went great! :D

    YAY! So glad you are back! So excited for you and your race!!! There are MANY sources of "how to train to run" on-line... if you need help getting started! (PS... I'm NOT a runner, so I have NO tips for you! lol but there are many runners here on Spark that would gladly help, I am certain!)

    You can do it!! And you'll lose the weight just through running! Just start of slowly and listen to your body. Don't expect to run a 5K on day one, don't expect to run a mile on day one! Do expect to be tired and love it and hate it all at the same time though!
