I do not make resolutions. I just participate in the monthly spark challenges to keep improving my health and wellness. My January challenge is to work on flexibility. I checked out a great yoga DVD from my library a couple weeks ago to get started. I liked it so much I ordered it from Amazon.com.
I've been taking a yoga class once a week at my library for a couple years but I would like to do it more often. This morning, I saw some improvement. It's hard to describe the pose but I'm getting better at it when a couple weeks ago, I barely got anywhere near it.
Today has been a day, physical therapy appointment and visiting my sister in the hospital, all in a typical Chicago area lake effect snowy day. Lake effect snow, sounds pretty doesn't it? Yeah, if you're looking out at it from a cabin with nowhere to have to go, with lots of food, comfy clothes, tea and blankets.
It is SO NOT fun to drive in! I came very close to sliding into a snow plow truck this morning. It's been snowing for three days.
Without thinking, I used the ujjayi breathing technique I learned in the yoga DVD after I just missed sliding into that truck this morning to calm myself down and continue on to my physical therapy appointment. Bonus number two of my January challenge.
Tomorrow, we are expecting sub-zero temps to set in. Less than 80 days till spring here. Must keep my focus on my goals!
