I refuse to be sick...

Thursday, January 02, 2014

I am still fighting off whatever crud I was dealing with yesterday, but I refuse to act like I am sick! Today I went snow shoeing. OMG was it cold! My nose started running really bad... and then the snot started freezing on my face. Gross, I know, but that is how cold it was. It was nose sticking cold out there (that is when you squeeze your nostrils together and they stick). It is supposed to be even colder tomorrow. Windchills are supposed to be down around -20F. I am thinking Cooper is getting really short walks tomorrow.

On a sad note... I lost my Spark Activity Tracker when we were out snow shoeing. I didn't realize how addicted to it had become! When I first got it I questioned its usefulness, but I am a convert. So, I ordered a new one. It will probably take a week to get here, so I am adrift for a week. Maybe I will take a week to rest up. I would still get my 120+ minutes of daily exercise to keep my streak alive, but not push myself the way I have been lately. I started the Wall sit challenge that a friend posted in her blog, but I added biceps curls to the wall sit to make it more challenging.

The problem with taking it a bit easier is that I like to eat. If I don't work out as much, then I can't eat as much. Bummer!

As this grandma would say the best thing for a cold is to rest and drink lots of fluids esp chicken soup.

Never heard of nose sticking cold before. Yikes. I have to carry tissues all the time, hot or cold out, when I walk the pups - snotty nose. Hope you feel better soon emoticon

I use the Fitbit zip - lost 2 - got backups - found the first 2. Now, I wear it with a safety clip. (& keep the backups stored).

    Feel better soon!

My nose ALWAYS runs when I exercise outside in the winter. I'm usually in deep trouble if I go XC skiing and forget my hankie!

Drink lots of fluids and stay warm and get lots of rest when you're not outside.

PS the good news about your activity tracker is that it'll probably survive the winter outside because it's supposedly waterproof. So maybe you'll end up with a spare, if you find it after the snow melts...

I LOVE gross stories. One of my favorites is with my nephew who is now 31 and married. At the time, I was in college. He was probably 5 or 6 years old and I was dragging him around with me. It was January and really, really, really cold. As I said, I was dragging him all over and as we were off on some cold death march somewhere, he piped up with "Aunt Laura... do you have a kleenex?" I doubled over laughing. He had snot frozen from his nose to his chin.
