We had a very busy week leading up to Christmas. We had a houseful of people, including the big brother and sister who were waiting at our house while my daughter labored at home with hubby and a midwife and her assistant. The birth went well, a relief to all. We had the kids overnight for 4 nights. And have been helping with them since then.
It was a magical Christmas Eve. Around 6:30 we sat down (four grandkids and I) to watch Elf. We planned on seeing Polar Express as well. These two movies really give me the feeling that it is Christmas and we were finally getting a chance to rest and see them. But we got a call at 7 that Leon Cassius had been born. So we took the kids to meet their brother.
The room was nice and dimly lit. We got there before the baby was even weighed and cleaned up and checked for health. It was fascinating to watch the women do their thing. They weighed him in a cloth sling. 8 lbs 6 oz, and measured 20 and 3/4 inches. He's so precious! Nothing like a home birth! This was my daughter's second home birth.
Love at first sight. This is when I first got to hold him.
There are other pictures in my photo album, too.
I love sharing with you this new life. He is so new and innocent. Loved by so many.
