I started 2013 at a weight I wasn't happy with: 151.6 :( I went back to my old program and then discovered The Plan! By the end of March I was down 17 pounds and felt great. I managed to maintain well into the summer and even got down below 134 but by the end of July it started to creep up a little and then our DD came to stay with us till late November and my weight stabilized around the 140 mark. I ended the year at 141.6 - exactly 10 pounds below where I started but up from the summer. Time to get back with the program!
The first half of the year I stuck with yoga at least 5 times a week but once we traveled to Colorado and our DD came to stay with us it went by the wayside... I have taken up walking again and will get back with yoga - I feel so much better for it. The weather has turned colder, even here in sunny Mexico and my joints aren't happy, they need the yoga :)
I discovered the Plan and with it several new recipes. One of my favorite new foods is kale, which is not available in Mexico but I really made the most of it when we were in the US.
Lentils are another food I have used more this year. What I have learned this last year is that wheat is not my friend and by eliminating it for the most it has made it possible to lose weight and keep it under control. DD's stay threw a spanner in the woodwork but I'm back with the program!
In April we spent a couple of days in Alamos (Sonora, MX)
May and June were good for a few trips to Arizona: Tucson, Phoenix and McNeal where we stayed with friends.
July through September we were in Colorado at our summer place
Late September we went south, back home to San Carlos (Sonora MX)
In October we took DD to visit Alamos for a few days
November netted a quick trip to Tucson to take DD to the airport and to get some shopping done.
December - we drove down the Baja the eastern route and spent a few weeks in La Paz before driving back up the Baja the western route.
This year I got rid of quite a bit of clutter. I had to buy some new clothes after losing the weight and most of my old stuff has been donated - 4 bags full and there is more that can go as I missed a whole tote with fall and winter clothes. I got a new set of pans and the old ones are out of here! Shoes... well that is a hard one, I love my shoes :) We have given up our satellite tv and now only watch a few shows we like via the internet. It cut down on our tv watching by hours a day and I don't miss it at all.
It is good to reflect on the past year and see what worked, what we have accomplished and what wasn't so great - we learn from it and then move on. My goals for the coming year are to eat according to The Plan, get back to my "fighting weight" and get in a bit more exercise.
