My First Workout With Les Mills Pump

Today is day 8 of my streak!

Did you get any fitness related gifts for Christmas? Thats the kind of gift that I LOVE to get, and I'm blessed to have a hubby who knows it. The next holiday coming up is Valentines Day, and I know hubby won't be giving me a box of chocolate or roses....he's certain to give me a workout DVD or a yoga mat or maybe some new workout pants. And I sure don't mind not getting the chocolate! (Although I wouldn't mind getting some roses.)

For Christmas, hubby got me Les Mills Pump! I had been wanting that for quite a while, but I never thought I'd get it. So I was so surprised and thrilled when I opened my gift on Christmas morning and there it was. I spent Christmas day just watching the workout DVD's that came with it, so that I'd familiarize myself with them. Hubby watched them with me, and he kept saying "Are you sure you're going to be able to do this?" He was concerned, because the trainers on the DVD's are all young and in awesome shape.

I re-assured him that I'd be just fine. I'm not competing with the Les Mills trainers. The only person I'm competing with is myself! I know what I'm capable of, and I know my limits just as well as I know my strengths. I know how hard I can push myself without hurting myself.






Yesterday was my first workout with Les Mills Pump. I put on my Warrior Gear (which is what I call my workout clothes. It motivates me!) and then put on my knee brace. I went into the living room and inserted the DVD into the player...and started my emoticon LMP workout, the Pump Challenge.

It was GREAT! Wow, did I love that workout! It was hard, but they show how to modify it. Yes, they did encourage me to "squat deep" and I had to say "no way" to that. My 52 year old knees have put the kibosh on squatting deep....but I did do squats, and plenty of them! I went as low as I could while doing them (and the lunges) and by the end of the workout my legs felt like hot jelly! The workout didn't neglect the upper body, either. By the end of the 20 minute workout, I was sweating, tired and feeling awesome!



Les Mills Pump comes with a workout schedule, and today is designated as rest day....and if my legs could talk, they'd say "hooray" to that! They are definitely feeling a little sore today. My upper arms are a little sore too. I know its going to take a little time for my body to get used to this workout. But I enjoyed it and I'm going to stick with it!



Since today is my day off from LMP, I'm going to be working out with Coach Nicole's 28 Day Boot Camp DVD, which is excellent. What workout are you going to do today? Have a great day and a healthy new year!
