2013 in Review. Surprises in the 4th Quarter.
Wednesday, January 01, 2014
The surprises for the year all came in the 4th quarter for me.
1) Lost 15 lbs via TurboCharged by the Griesels. As an exerciser I could never lose weight. For example, almost ten years ago, I had some time off from work. I did 12-13 group ex classes a week from strenuous aerobics to yoga. I weighed myself the first time after 4 months and to my surprise and dismay, I lost 5 lbs. after all those hard works. I gave up losing weight after that.
2) Quit eating grains. As a whole grain advocate for decades you could never convince me that whole grain is not good for you. But when I tried the Turbocharged method which called for the elimination of concentrated carbs including grains and I lost a bunch of weight, I was sold. Once the veil is lifted, I could see that I was living in carb paradise fool. I still eat carbs but not the grains.
3) New diet. With the grains out of the way, it opens up new possibilities for me. Here are some of my food components: 40 grams (dry weight) Chia seeds (soaked and fermented), 1 oz Walnuts/Almonds/Peanuts/Brazil nuts mix, 9 Dates, 1 Fig, 3 Apples, 1 Avocado, 1/2 lb animal proteins, homemade sauerkraut, homegrown mung bean sprouts, some chocolate, other fruits, veg and beans fill out the rest.
4) 15-Minute Exercise. In the final days of 2013, I came to the realization that I only need 15-minute exercise. The experts are wrong once again to advocate long exercises. Just like they were wrong about low fat, high carbs. It's the 'inactivity' as in sitting that is what they should be focusing on. Inactivity will be the new smoking within 50 years. If you sit a lot, even an hour of exercise daily can't compensate for the negative effects of sitting. If you avoid sitting as much as you can, 15 minute of exercise is good enough.
