Running out of options

Wednesday, January 01, 2014

Not really running out of options, I am just unable to choose the options I like. My stationary bike is broken. It 'slips' on one pedal, and the jolt hurts my hip. The plus to the bike is that it is upstairs near the fireplace, in line with the TV. It needs replaced. Strange, with everyone getting snow, we have less than an inch. But, the irony is that the city with the most snowfall so far this season is Erie PA.........which is where my new elliptical/recumbent/ exercise bike happens to be on sale. So, I am not snowed in, my bike is.

Outdoor exercise is so far down on my list of options that I won't mention it. We need about 40 more degrees to even consider it.

So, I have been exercising on my treadmill in the basement....3 sessions, each about one Shania Twain CD long. It is about 50 degrees down there, so I really miss my fireplace location. And the lighting is such that I close my eyes because I have a cataract that is developing, but not ready for repair, and the glare is annoying. Even so, I was doing fine, until the battery went out of one of my hearing aids. Who knew how much that affects balance?

Yeah, I sound like I am falling apart, but other than my vision, my hearing, my obesity, and a few other things, I am in perfect shape.......if zero is a shape, that is.

But, this is 2014. This is likely the year the cataract will be removed. It is certainly the year I will change the battery in the hearing in 2 minutes. I intend to have the obesity controlled, even if I just progress from obese to overweight. I am hoping I will be able to go off the BP meds. These are just a few things that are, to a degree anyway, in my control. So, I guess I have options after all.

Well you are a trooper getting on the treadmill even if it is not your first choice. I would love to be running/walking outside, but it is way to cold and slippery. I am afraid of falling!

Better to do something even if it's not your 1st preference than nothing at all.

The bike is about 35 years old.........fixed a gazillion times. I am not sure, I think it is the same model used on The Flintstones. The threads are stripped. It's time has come, I think. (Though my husband has mentioned welding one of the parts somewhere.)

You go!!! Plans, back up plans, and more back up plans. You got this thing.
I have both cataracts scheduled for this year. Getting older is for those with a sense of humor. emoticon
