2014...Strengthening and Connecting

Wednesday, January 01, 2014

So it's January 1st and that means, no matter where people have been, it's time for the obligatory blog emoticon

Last year, for 2013, my motto was: Expect Amazing. And God gave me amazing. I read my daily devotionals by reading 1) most of the Bible in a year and 2)Rick Warren's daily devotional. I pushed myself to do more walking than I ever had and added in lots of running splits. I connected with family, sometimes in times of sadness and sorrow, sometimes in times of happiness, but nonetheless, I connected. I made new friends and I met up with friends whom I'd only known cyberly (through Sparkpeople & FB) for 3.5 years. I also met up with another friend from cyber land-and her daughter-at Sweet Frog before we drove home from vacation.

I tried new things like banana ice cream in a blender by using only bananas and training for my first 5K.

This year is about strength. Finding my strength. Strengthening my faith and connection with Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and my connection to His Church. It's about strengthening my body through health and fitness and pushing myself to newer limits and completing my first 5K. It's about strengthening my marriage. It's about strengthening my relationships with family & friends. It's about having the strength to use what God has called me to do in His Church. It's about having the strength in my everyday life & in my career to serve others before myself. It's about strengthening my finances through tithing as well putting money in a savings account.

This year is also about making connections-with people I have yet to meet and the ones I already have with people I know and interact with.

So I still want to expect amazing this year, but I want to take it even further. I want to push myself beyond my comfort zone. I am doing the same 30 Day Challenge from Chalene Johnson (Think Turbo Jam & Chalean Extreme) that I did last January. I hope to make the principles she teaches stick-especially since it's free.

To keep it brief and to the point and in no particular order, here are some of my goals for 2014:

1. Lose my last 100lbs
2. Be stronger in my faith & connection to my church
3. Work on myself to be a better wife, mother, daughter, friend, and coworker

My plan is to break this down into daily/weekly/monthly goals. I am determined that this IS the year to shine. Who's with me?!??!?

Now is our time to shine! Let's ROCK 2014!

It's great to see someone mentioning the other two parts of the Triune God! I think I met you at the Starbucks in Woodbridge a couple of months ago. I hope to see you when we can get together again.
