I still can't believe it. I often have gratitude moments that I am in such better physical health than I was two months ago. In keeping with a healthier lifestyle, what could be better than a hike, right? Not having to be carried out by two amazing men, one I share my life with, the other a stranger who VOLUNTEERED to help would have been better, yes.
But if not for a broken ankle, I would have missed seeing how wonderful strangers can be. Amazing people who just want to help. An oncologist out with her family who was first "on scene" and I immediately said I'm pretty sure my ankle is broken from the way my foot flopped over when I lifted my leg. And yes, right again! -- insert ironic laugh.
So I'm in a temporary splint after my first ever ambulance ride and wonderful treatment by Hi-Desert Medical Center ER. More amazing people. So grateful that relative to serious health issues others are dealing with every day, this is temporary. I will heal. I made the conscious decision yesterday, it's only an ankle. I obviously won't be on the ellipitical or stairmaster for at least several weeks to a month, but I can work my abs and upper body, and probably leg lifts, etc, at some point.
I'm hurt, but I still can.
