Another year! Another chance to make gains in many aspects of my life. Things were so quite on my walk to the gym this AM:) It was great! There was just enough frost to give everything a little shine to it:)
Since there was no SWEAT class today and I really did not feel like lifting, I decided to run:) I remember running the last few years on Jan. 1st and thinking that it would be a great way to start the year!
2.75 total on the treadmill.
I did something new to prevent me from losing my mind but also to push myself:) It was a good one!
Warm up 5 minutes 4.5 incline 6
Then run the rest of the mileage left to hit one mile inline 1.0 and speed 6.0-6.5
walk incline 6.5 speed 4.5 for .25
Run .75 incline 1 speed 6.5-7
walk incline 7 speed 5 for .25
Run.75 incline 1 speed 7
It was fun and I was a hot, sweaty mess by the time it was over:) Thinking I am going to try this again Sunday. I liked the idea of starting the second mile where the first left off. Negative splits:) I also found this type of running more manageable than racing against my Garmin:) I get so stressed when I see the time increase on my Garmin, this way I can really control how fast I go.
Any thoughts on this for those that run? Do you prefer the road or treadmill? I love running outside and really could not fathom running long periods of time on the treadmill:)
