WHY WE PRAY

Prayer is something that is much needed in everyone’s life. Some shy away from it because they don’t know how. Some don’t think prayer works. Others just don’t pray because they don’t have the time or don’t think about it until they need something. However, we are told to pray about everything. Prayer calms us. Prayer connects us with God. Prayer brings peace.

Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we come to You today to ask us to learn more about prayer and how to pray so that we are sincere, we are not afraid and we are giving You the glory. You know our needs before we even come to You but we are still told to pray. We are told to pray about everything. Help us to begin our days with prayer and continue throughout the day knowing You will take care of all areas of our lives. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we leave prayer out of our lives, we leave God out.

We pray for many reasons but the main reason is to give ourselves completely to God.

Prayer does change things. And it changes us.

Without prayer we have no connection to God.

We need to devote ourselves to prayer knowing God will help us in all things.

Colossians 4:2 “Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.” (NLT)

Dearest Frances, I type this with tears in my eyes... I have been inconsistent with Spark People BUT your blog totally reached my heart and I will be going back to read your archives and looking forward to your daily posts... and on to a more consistent check in!
My husband is a dialysis patient and stroke victim. He prayed for a woman at the dialysis center who was acting hopeless... he befriended her and told her he would pray for her... SHE WAS HEALED AND NO LONGER NEEDS DIALYSIS... before her healing she gave him a blanket which serves as a reminder every time he uses it and I pack it (3xs a week)THAT PRAYER WORKS....
Right now I am struggling with a bitter root and I have been praying all morning that GOD would fill me (after removing the root...which I am willing to let go ) with HIS LOVE from the tips of my toe nails to the end of my hair....
I WANT THAT PEACE THAT PASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING! and I want people to SEE IT!... and say "WOW WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?"
GOD BLESS YOU ALL! emoticon as we journey together!!

emoticon This was a beautiful blog to read because one of my "resolutions" is to pray and study more. It's not that I don't pray and study daily, I definitely do. I just want to spend less time in activities that don't bring me closer to God and more time in things that do. Have a blessed day and may your year be blessed as well!
