New Year's Eve at the infusion center AC#3
Tuesday, December 31, 2013
This will be short because I feel a little fuzzy-headed right now sitting in a chemo infusion chair.
Today has been a long day at the infusion center getting chemo, meeting with the doctor and getting my BRCA results. My first appointment today was at 11:30am and we won't be leaving until around 7:30 pm.
The good news is that I'm BRCA negative. If I had been BRCA positive, I would be getting a double mastectomy and my ovaries out. Since I'm BRCA negative, my oncologist and my breast surgeon both think I should have a lumpectomy only. I plan on following their advice. It's a little scary to go with a lumpectomy with triple negative breast cancer, but I trust them.
Today, I'm getting AC infusion #3 of 4. My oncologist warned me that the next two weeks would probably be the toughest one of all of my time on chemo. For some reason, this third infusion really wears people out. I figure I'll be sleeping A LOT. If you don't hear much from me over the next two weeks, it's because I'm hibernating. Honestly, I don't care how hard it is....this chemo is working to shrink my tumor, so I'm more than willing to put up with tons of fatigue if that's what it takes. If I have to spend a lot of time sleeping, I figure January is one of the better months for it!
Happy New Year to all my wonderful SparkFriends. Thank you for your fantastic support in 2013. I have a feeling that 2014 is going to be a very good year.
