I realized last night how truly important it is to be present - and to teach my kids the same. It was a crazy day, got home with the kids around 5:30 and was just exhausted - so kind of flopped in my chair and let the kids play on their electronics (son got a DS and daughter a LeapPad from Santa)... after a few minutes I realized that the three of us where in the same room, but none of us were present.
How sad. While I know that we will all still play on our respective electronics at times, I think it's critical that we teach ourselves, and our kids, how to live in the here and now - who is in the room... how are they... what are they doing... who are they as people. Engage!
Anyway, that's really all. Alarm went off this morning to work out and, lo and behold, we had no power ... so, no workout this morning... am going to try to fit in at least 30 min on the treadmill after the kids are in bed tonight. Eating yesterday was better than it has been. Not perfect, but better.
Here's to a good end to 2013 - games, family, and sleep (that's my plan for the night)!
Happy New Year everyone!
