Wishing everybody a Happy New Year. I've been offline for a few days as I just got out of the hospital. The ambulance guys saved my life and got me to the ER fast enough so the doctors and nurses could work to keep me alive. I had a bleeding ulcer which I didn't know I had--lost 4 units of blood and was nearly dead when I got to the hospital. No symptoms at all and no warning signs--just started throwing up large blood clots the day after Christmas. Lost so much blood that I couldn't breathe and lost my sight for a while (it came back after the paramedics gave me oxygen but it happened again once in the hospital due to low oxygen from the blood loss). It's been a scary few days and I don't ever want to re-live that. I'm very weak and will work now at getting strong and healthy again. Evidently the Aleve I was taking for the past 10 years for my arthritis causes ulcers. And the extra stress I had the past 2 months was enough to put me over the top. I'll be cutting back on most of my volunteer activities and just focusing on getting healthy for awhile now. I will still be seeing the surgeon on Feb. 4 to plan the hip surgery, but I'm sure it will be postponed until I'm stronger. Next week my husband goes in for an angiogram and tests on the circulation in his legs.. Please keep us both in your prayers. I do wish everybody a Happy New Year and I'm sure hoping it's better than the last part of 2013 has been.
