Preparing for a new year.

emoticon I had a really great holiday season! Reality: too much of a good thing!
I ate lots of my favorite things: peanut brittle here; chocolate fudge there, . . . emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

What was I thinking? emoticon I am a diabetic and my blood sugar finally rebelled.
Yesterday I hit a fasting blood sugar of 191 and it went on up to 233. That is a first for me.

So today I am preparing for the new year a little early. I have been making healthy choices all day, and keeping track of my blood sugar readings. emoticon

It has been raining all day today and tonight so I didn't get a chance to go for a walk. My treadmill is in Michigan and I am in south Texas! emoticon emoticon
However I did get 5500 steps indoors in my place.

I have been doing something positive too. I have been reading some insightful articles, and very inspirational blogs by my Spark friends. These have given me the courage and wisdom to keep on keeping on, to not get down on myself, to take it a day at a time, and to never, ever give up.

This is a lifestyle change not a diet and I am worth being the healthiest me I can be. This is my long term goal for the new year and beyond. emoticon
