Since I started the journey to change my habits, I have had a lot of trouble sticking with the diet and exercise. I have spent a lot of time feeling discouraged because I felt I had not gotten any closer to my goals. But this morning as I planned out my goals for the day, I realized I have gained something from all the work I've done. I have gained a small amount of momentum and determination. I realized that despite not seeing results where I want them, I am still trying. Though I still mess up and revert to my old habits often, I have gained a lot of new, good habits as well. As a result of my decision to improve my health and habits, I have completely cut off my soda addiction and taken to drinking water regularly. I spent most of my life drinking soda constantly, NEVER drinking water and now I have completely flipped it! That's a big deal! I have also started giving myself daily goals. Making these goals gives me more structure to my day and helps get me moving and get things done, even if it's just a load of laundry. My eating habits are still not perfect and need a lot of work but they have improved substantially. I am conscious of what I am eating and love to get fruits and vegetables in my diet. I have learned my weaknesses as well(desserts!) and I now know how to control myself, even if it doesn't always work out the way I meant it. My progress may not be showing up on a scale yet, but it is showing up in my daily habits. I believe that is just as important as any weight loss. And I'm not done yet...

    Thanks for sharing. I think we all have slip-ups and we can't beat ourselves up over it. That's a very good step in the right direction, to realize you may not be perfect but are pleased with yourself for the progress you have made. I know I will never be perfect so I need to accept myself with all my quirks, not imperfections, because whose to say what is perfect or imperfect anyway?

    Fantastic! You have not only learned from what you describe above but also the lesson to look how far you have come instead of focusing on the destination or end result. The quest should be healthy living. In that regard you have made big improvements. Congrats. You deserve it!
