Perhaps I posted my last blog prematurely... while it has not been a good exercise or eating month overall (not really working out; not tracking), apparently the combination of having internalized healthy eating somewhat and continuing to walk, plus getting this horrible cold that my boyfriend is sure is the flu sweeping Massachusetts (to me a flu involves throwing up but apparently not this one), has meant:
I beat my New Year goal!
I wanted to be at 137 by the end of the year. I got on the scale this morning to see how badly I had failed at this goal, and had to do a double take and re-weigh eleven times. I fully expected to be back in the 140s after my low of 138 in late November. But lo and behold, the needle landed to the left of the 135 on all eleven attempts.
I am feeling mostly better so I hope having my appetite back will be manageable (and that the NYE party at the lake house doesn't destroy the progress... I will bring my "near-beers" and the boys can all make fun of me and work on their pot bellies while they drink Bud Light which has twice as many calories!)
Even if it wasn't totally in my control, I am super proud of myself :)
Not only did I make my New Year goal, but I sit ONE POUND above my lowest adult weight ever, in 2008 after my early days on Spark. Amazingly, I am stronger and smaller and healthier than I was at that low, too.
January's goals are all about getting back into a routine. I have been struggling with dehydration and have not managed to get my ass into the gym (even though I work there!) so it's going to be a "fast-break-style" month!
-8 (big) glasses of water every day
-20 mins of exercise 6 days a week BESIDES walking
-10,000 steps a day (I was trying to shoot for 15,000 but 10 has been a struggle this month!)
-tracking food every day; generally MORE veggies!
I am not sure when and if I will move to maintenance-and-toning mode rather than weight-loss-mode, since I am so close to my original goal of "around 127-133." Hopefully I will know it's time when it's time
Thanks to all of my wonderful Sparkfriends, team members (especially the Hen House chicks!) and others for your thoughtful comments and support over the past year. You all rock!
Happy New Year!
