New years wish.

Sunday, December 29, 2013

My friend Steve (husband, father, triathlete, coach, and leukemia survivor) posted this on his blog

Here is a good New Year’s resolution suggestion. Rather than living life through the I, me, mine lens, let’s practice the fine art of being humble but still proud.

Rather than telling the world how hard you’ve trained, how fast you’ve raced, how fantastic your lavish gifts or vacations may have been, and how generally wonderful you are, let’s reflect on what we can do, and should do to make “equality” a little more equal, move the bar of acceptance, feed someone who is really hungry, help someone attain the tools of education, help someone feel safe and warm at night, express our love and appreciation of others, and channel our energy into making a difference in the lives of others.

I vote for fewer selfies and more donations of your time, effort, and energy to a worthy effort to facilitate positive change.

And as my buddy Kevin Carroll says…. “Don’t just talk about it, BE about it”

That guy has a bit of maturity to him! Sounds like he earned it too! Probably the hard way!

Absolutely agreed Jan! I had a wonderful Christmas helping out at our local soup kitchens and am looking forward to being able to donate blood when I pass 1 year out from my cardiac event in Feb.

Nothing beats paying our SPARK FORWARD! :-)

Great ideas for a "me" world. It is always so much more satisfying to give than to focus on "me".
Happy New Year!
