Big Changes for 2014

Saturday, December 28, 2013

So after much thought, it was decided that Adam and I won't be able to afford to live on our own at the rental house. Instead, what we will have to do is move back into my parents' house. We are going to put in our 30-day notice on Monday. I'm actually relieved. If we chose to stay, we would only have $200.00 to last for 3 months to buy food, and that doesn't even include the cost of books. Luckily, I only have to buy one book this term, and it will be only $35.00 to rent from a website, but Adam is taking 20 credits, which means more books, and less money from the disbursement. For the stuff we don't want to get rid of, we will get a small storage unit. It will still be cheaper than paying the $650/month in rent.

Luckily, the term doesn't start until the 6th, so that will give us some time to find a storage unit, and move all of our stuff. I just want to have the place cleared out as soon as possible, then the only thing we'll have to worry about is turning over the keys and possibly doing a walk through.

The last time we did this, I was really worried that it would affect my weight loss, and I was worried that I was going to be too stressed out to even try. The reality is that if I want it bad enough, I can do it and it will be fine. We will be at school every single day, and I will actually have quite a bit of free time between classes. Mondays, I only have one class. Tuesdays and Thursdays, I only have 2 classes, and on Wednesday I have three. Fridays I'm completely free, so that's pretty awesome. I'll still be going though so that will give me plenty of time to exercise. I will also strategically pack my lunches and snacks so that they're within calorie range. I can TOTALLY do this! I am excited for this new phase in our lives.

Being that we are graduating this June, our financial future was uncertain anyway. I am going to be looking for work in Salem, and there's no guarantee that I'll be in a job by the time I graduate. This will definitely make that transition easier. I'm thinking about applying for part-time work to save up a little so maybe we could even take a small vacation after we graduate. That would be WONDERFUL! It would be so nice to work on the weekends or something.

I'll figure it out! Definitely! I'm just so thankful that I have parents that allow not just me, but my fiance to live there in a house that has every room filled up. Though we will be sleeping on the hide-a-bed, it's a bed, and it's a place to stay. We did it before, and we can do it again. I'm just hoping that this time, it will be less time than before. I guess we'll see what happens.
I am definitely looking forward to see what 2014 has to offer.

I'm excited. I am glad and I'm just really excited to get the rest of this school year going.

Good job recognizing what you need to do to get by...not everyone is responsible enough to recognize it, but you are. Good job!

Focus on taking care of you. I hope that this phase will be successful. Don't let the habits of those around you derail you. Congrats on almost finishing school and this next phase of looking for a job. I hope you find everything. emoticon
