Chocolate chips and 10 minutes a day

I was reminded that I haven't updated my progress of 30 days of 10 mins exercise for a while, so here we go.


I'm currently on day 19! I even managed it on Christmas day emoticon

So my first goal for the new year is to continue and make my 30 days.

Now, I promised you the recipe for my decadent, but delicious, Chocolate trifle.

Stage 1 - make a custard. Otherwise known as Creme Anglaise, this is usually made with eggs and milk. There are recipes all over the internet and you may already have your own favourite recipe. Use that! You need threequarters of a pint of custard.

Stage 2 - While the custard is still hot transfer 6 tablespoons of into a small bowl and add 8 pieces of good quality Belgian Dark Chocolate. The best quality chocolate - NOT cooking chocolate. Stir to melt and mix in the chocolate.

Then leave everything to cool - so this can be done the day before you want to make it (which should be 24 hours before you are serving)

Stage 3 - So, once everything is cool find your packet of cookies

and a small quantity of liquid

The liquid can be alcoholic if you like - something like Marsala (as in the picture) or cream sherry, or brandy, or..... if you don't want any alcohol use milk or orange juice. You really don't need a lot - and I always err on the side of less rather than more because you can add extra instead of throwing away too much.

Now you make a few triple sandwiches.

Dip cookie in liquid, spread with chocolate, pop into bowl, repeat with two more cookies until you have a little stack

Now make a few more - enough for the bottom of your bowl

This is perfect for a whole packet of cookies.

Stage 4 - Now you need half a pint of whipping cream. Here in the UK Double Cream is best. Whisk it until it forms soft peaks

then add the remaining cooled custard and gently mix the two together.

Stage 5 - Be gentle!

Pour the cream mix over the cookie stacks until they are all covered

Now smooth the top and pop it into the refrigerator for 24 hours.

And that's when I forgot!

The next stage is to decorate the top just before serving - and I totally forgot to take a picture emoticon

but I'm sure you know what to do...... I used grated chocolate and walnuts. In reality ANYTHING GOES - use whatever you have, and if it's only grated chocolate that's delicious too.

    I'm so happy you're still on your streak and delighted you bowed to the demands of your followers and made their trifle!! I don't like custard nor chocolate so won't be one I'll add to my recipe box but I'm sure it was fabulous!!

    Sounds delicious.... I will have to try it when I am going to have "A LOT of HELP" to eat the contents of that bowl!!
