Might seem like the opposite of what I need to do but I rarely use my membership and they are raising the price quite a bit. I'm sure I can find other things for much cheaper. Take Living Social for example. They have a few offers I already plan to take advantage of when my gym membership is over. The YMCA raised their price to $83/month, I just can't do that anymore. One of the living social specials offers 20 group fitness classes for $20 and I can use them up in 2 months. Two different locations have this offer so I can get both and try out these places and just use up the coupons. That's a lot cheaper than paying for a membership and then not going to the gym at all.

This is the first deal I plan to try. It's for Susan Marlowe fitness in Scarsdale. $400 worth of classes for $20. I'm sure I can get in 20 visits within 60 days. I'm stuck with one more month of membership at the YMCA because of their 30 day notice policy, so I'll be paid for January and yes, I should hit up as many classes as I can during that time and then I'll buy the Susan Marlowe package and use up 20 classes in February and March. So instead of paying $166 for 2 months and then never going, I'll only be out $20 and I'll most likely make arrangements to use up the 20 classes.
2014 will be the year of riding my bike and hiking again. Riding all of those miles for free will burn so many more calories than not going to the gym and being in the outdoors that much more will be better for me overall. With the colder weather in 2014 will come free access to an NCAA quality gym facility at Lehman College again. I fully expect to be accepted into the college for a new degree and that means parking, the gym, great lockers and the pool. Since it's a day use locker I can use them when I get there in the AM for anything as a home base for wherever I'm working.
I have a great new trailer hitch on my car with a new bike rack as well. I love them, and they didn't get enough usage last year. I love riding my bike and my ride burn upwards of 800 calories each. Throw a few of those in when the weather gets nicer and my cancelled membership is justified. I have honestly been thinking of doing this for a while now. With my new financial goals, now is the time. I can do this without going broke.
I got an AM Yoga DVD for Christmas this year. It's done by Rodney Yee and there are 5 different Yoga routines to use during the work week. I plan to get that into my morning as well as use my other DVD's more in the evening before bed. They're not very long and it's always good to unwind with Yoga and start the day with it as well. Already have filled in the excuses cancelling my membership was bringing up. I can do weight training without the gym and come the end of August I'll have unlimited access to the Lehman College gym so I can get back to targeted weight lifting again, and in 7 months I'd think I have the body fat problem solved so I can actually see the benefit of weight training. For now I have plenty of Coach Nicole videos and plenty of stuff here for the Spark workouts in my apartment. I have to live below my means again and get frugal.
Okay so the plan is made and it's time to put things in motion and finish what I've started. Real goals ahead to achieve now. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
