a week felt like a year

Thursday, December 26, 2013

Oh my friends, I sure have missed you! I can't believe I have only been off line for just one measly week. Each day went by so S L O W L Y. Not to be able to read because of my retina issue has been far harder than I imagined. Not to even answer a text on my phone was torturous, LOL. My husband was very helpful.

There was an upside to this week, though. I stayed on track with my eating. My kitchen is cleaner than it's been in years. I went through my closet and tried on blouses that don't pull at the buttons, and can fit into pants I haven't worn in at least a decade, and a skirt that was once too tight literally fell onto the floor when I tried it on again this past week. I spent time in contemplation and prayer. The lack of stimuli even encouraged my hard heart to soften toward people in my life I was pretty sure I would have bad feelings for, for the rest of my life.

Being forced to be away from the computer reminded me that I still need to work on balance in my life.

I start physical therapy for my back, tomorrow. I am looking forward to getting strong again! And I can't wait to catch up with you, my Sparkfriends, too. It's so nice to be back "home". I still have five more weeks where my retina needs healing, and I go back to the doctor again in two weeks, but I am hopeful that this time all will be well.

I missed my Sparkpeople!

Love, Ginger

What a great feeling it is when clothes that once were too tight are now loose or a perfect fit. I'm thrilled for you!

It's good to have you back. I missed you.

You made optimal use of your non-reading time -- in so many ways. Here's hoping those retinal issues are in your past now.

Glad you were able to turn a negative into a positive. I am so impressed that you were able to stay on track throughout the holidays! Wow! I didn't even try. Everything I made had butter, butter, butter! Back on track tomorrow, although I am not looking forward to the weigh in. Did you actually have surgery on your retina? I hope it is healing well. Be careful not to strain in with your catching up. Hope physical therapy goes well for you. I'm looking forward to catching up.

Great to have you back! It sounds like the break, though part of it was hard, was actually a very good thing for you! We should all take time to pause and go offline and focus on things.

Glad you are doing OK. Take care of yourself. A couple of years ago, and I remember it well, it was on Jan. 4, my old computer stopped running, and it was SIX WEEKS before I realized it was NOT going to run again, get a new computer, and get it up and running. At first I went through a 'withdrawal' period, but after a week or two, I realized how much I had accomplished around the house since I was not online. Oh, I missed being online, but still, I also enjoyed having the time to do work that I had always put off doing because I wanted to 'get online.' Once I was 'up and running' again, I promised myself to limit my online time. I did for a while, and then I got back into being online too much and letting things go again. I need to work on that in the new year. Wishing you a happy, healthy, and blessed new year!
