Feel Your Moment

Thursday, December 26, 2013

Christmas 2013 is in the books, well almost. I still have a celebration with my parents, sisters and their families this Saturday. We are meeting for breakfast at a local restaurant and then back to my house to open gifts.

My kids are adults so quality time with them gets to be few and far between. The schedules did not start out promising and I felt the holiday gloom and doom mood set in but I kept telling myself to let it go. Itís a new attitude Iíve been working on all year. Itís finally starting to sink in. Life happens the way it will whether I give myself stomach pains or not. Adding more yoga and meditation for my December challenge has helped immensely!

DH and I had a nice evening Monday with his brother from California. Then we had a fun evening Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with my kids and my daughterís boyfriend Many laughs were had. It warmed my heart.

Let me tell you all the sweets I ate the last few days. Well, no, letís not go there. The past is the past, but mostly because I cannot remember everything I ate! My tummy is not happy with me!

Iím a bit lethargic today but back to work and back to my routine which feels good. I just walked laps for 20 minutes in our gymnasium at work. Iím planning one more 20-minute walking break plus a few stairs today. After work, Iím planning on the 10-minute Spark kickboxing video and a few minutes on the elliptical. Holiday calories are in for a fight!

Iíve decided on my goal for the Spark Rock Your Resolution January challenge. I need to be more flexible. I checked out a great yoga DVD at the library recently. I LOVE it! The only problem is my hips tend to lock up after a couple of the moves. So I plan to add more stretching and flexibility routines during the month of January. Iím actually starting now since I donít believe in New Yearís resolutions.

The song of the day is by Pitbull and Christina AguileraÖ Feel This Moment. The DJ at a 5K I did in April played it while we got warmed up just before the starting signal. To this day when I hear it, I'm back in the middle of 1700-some people dancing and feeling that pumped up pre-race feeling.

Join me in feeling your moment today. Regardless how your holiday or month went, make a moment today!

"One day when my light is glowin
I'll be in my castle golden
but until the gates are open
I just wanna feel this moment"

It sounds like you are enjoying the benefits of flexibility with life as you prepare for more physical flexibility in 2014. Happy New year to you!
And I just may take some inspiration from you and work on my flexibility, so thank you for that!

Enjoy your day. That is great that you are getting walks in at work. Being flexible is a good goal as we often get stuck in ruts. My kids are grown also and it is hard to get time with them.

I am glad you enjoyed the holidays with your family!

Enjoy your time with family Saturday. I hope the kids come to realize soon what took me nearly 30 years to learn and that is that are families are forever and must come first.

Lots of wisdom... the days will happen as they will. We have precious control over it.

The Spark Rock Your Resolution January challenge sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out.
