It Doesn't Matter What Anybody Else Thinks

(Read this out loud to yourself...!)

My gift to myself is choice and peace of mind during this hectic time of year.

The only person I can control is me. That means controlling my reactions to the "helpful" things other people feel inclined to say especially during all the get-togethers, instead of becoming annoyed and letting them bother me.

I will rise above the baiting, teasing, and gentle prodding. They don't "know" what I'm trying to do or how far I am on my journey. I have no plans to discuss it with them. It is none of their business.

Food may equate "love" to them, but I am in control of the utensil that conveys the fuel (food) to my mouth.

That also means refusing to bow to the dictates of the Food Police. Their problem, not mine.

I will not waver in my commitment and promise to myself.

Yes! I totally agree! No one can tell me what to eat, and I refuse to discuss it. Thank you for this blog. It confirms what I already know, but easily forget when someone says something like, "have another cookie, it's Christmas".

That is exactly right. You do not have to explain yourself to anyone and you can ignore the comments of the food police. I am headed to a luncheon at my inlaws and know they will not be happy with my food choices.

You are going to have a healthy holiday and are going to make good choices.
I love your strength and positive attitude.

What an excellent blog for me to read on Christmas Eve!!! You are so right. We need to keep our eye on the target. That's not to say that I won't be partaking in some less healthy food -- but it affirms that the decision is MINE to make.

emoticon Your image of yourself (and the rest of us) calm amid the storm of comments, reminds me of the image of that swan, gliding placidly across the lake, underneath legs paddling like mad. Our work is for ourselves.

It takes a willing Pushee to have a successful Pusher. "No, thank you" said from conviction usually has them moving on to the next person.
