. . . I am sure we all have "favorite things" we all enjoy about the Christmas season. My favorite thing about the birth of Christ is the passage about the heavenly host. I try to imagine what it would have been like to be there. Besides being frightened, as the shepherds were, I would be totally amazed. The announcement of the King of kings birth accompanied by a heavenly host, the appearance of one special angel with a special message, and the glory of the Lord shining around them. Has there ever been such a time since? This passage has me in awe each time I read it. To think that the God of all creation sent a heavenly announcement to the lowly esteemed shepherds. Then to think that more than two thousand years later, this same God, by the Holy Spirit, drew me, a lowly, poor handmaiden, and gave my soul the same message of salvation and made it personal to me. Unto to me there were tidings of great JOY! I came away rejoicing and praising God for all that was done for me.
No wonder, then, that my favorite Christmas carol is "Joy to the World." Many times when I think of it , hear it or sing it, I still tear up.
"Arise, shine, for your (my) light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon me." Is. 60:1
Merry Christmas, my dear friends!
