It's Christmas week and for Christians this is one of the most significant events to celebrate. So for that reason I am taking a break from the current study to look at Christmas. We'll take a look at the traditional Christmas characters from a non-traditional angle, maybe stir up some thought processes.
Read Judges 13:2-14 and Luke 1:5-23
I want to make a comparison between Samson and John the baptist. Both were born to couples that were barren. Both fathers had doubts about what the angel told them. Both were supposed to be nazirites but only John kept the vow. History shows us how John the baptist paved the way before Jesus came, remaining faithful to the end. In contrast throughout his life Samson broke all of his vows, finally repenting at the end. God had a purpose for both just as He has a purpose for all of us, we still have the choice which way to go. We can be like Samson and be driven by our lusts or we can be like John and pave the way for Jesus coming again.
