I thought last week sucked... I now long for the good old days of last week.

This is going to be very short because I have neither the patience nor the desire at this time to go all Shakespeare in a blog.

I kept my calories in check, didn't have the best diet every day, but not terrible. Didn't get to the gym, some serious toe pain a mysterious new knee pain (feels like it did the last time I tore a ligament) and back pain have all conspired to keep me from exerting myself.

I kept sodium in check and drank a minimum of 9 glasses of water per day. Yet somehow my weight just kept creeping up all week. I would understand if I were sucking down sodium or taking in 2,500 calories each day, but I wasn't.

Weight : 220
Gain : 2.6
Total : 100

I feel like I'm stuck in quicksand right now. I will turn it around, I just don't know when or how quite yet.

    I know, I know...sometimes no rhyme or reason. BUT you continue to face it head on, and you are not giving up. You're in a much better place than you were 2 or 3 years ago. With your current lifestyle, you know that it will not stick around...

I'm trying to be kinder to myself these days...scale is shooting up, but I know why. I also know that starting this morning I ate my regular breakfast, had some fruit for a snack and am slowly getting back into my healthier eating habits. Lifestyle...no end date...up, down, up, down, ... just keep doing what you're doing... You've got this.

    Take a breather Ken... take some of the pressure off. I think your body is telling you to do just that. Stress doesn't go with weight loss... Hang in there brother! I'm here for you

    how many ligaments have you torn, exactly? Suckages on the gain, but you know what they say about things that go up coming back down. If I didn't know better, I'd say you were setting things up to gloat after the new year, when we're all complaining about gaining weight, and you're over there, sitting smugly in the corner, smirking about having lost weight over the holidays.

    Well, we know the finely tuned machine that is our bodies isn't always the most cooperative. Look back at exactly what you ate last week and compare it to a week when you lost weight and see if you can make some changes.

    Hope you feel better soon. Guarantee there are probably a few million of us on here that are going through the same frustrations during the holiday. I am just trying to maintain a status quo until next week. since you said the scale has been creeping up all week, I guess that means you are weighing yourself everyday. I'm guilty of this too, even though I'm told not to do it. Last week my scale jumped up 4 pounds after my weekend getaway. I was so mortified with myself. Well, guess what, the 4 pounds are mysteriously gone as of yesterday. they were just visiting my body temporary. Maybe your !@#$%& 2.6 lbs are just visiting too.

And, to quote Shakespeare for you cause your not in the mood: Shall I compare you to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate. Or should I say, more healthy and fit? Now, come on, you can't tell me that having a woman recite a Shakespearian sonnet to you doesn't help you get a little bit out of the quicksand? If this doesn't work, I can sing a Christmas carol to you! That will make you jump out of the quicksand and run for the hills.

    I know how discouraging it can be when the scale doesn't reflect our efforts! Keep your chin up and keep pressing though and hopefully next week will be better! emoticon

    Suckful... weight gains are suckful. Sorry it was a bad week. Maybe you need to invest in some liquid advil ~ that helps me a lot when the knee is hurting. Next week... bound to be a better number then. Shake it off now & enjoy the Christmas week :)

    Ha ha now I know why I 'hang out ' for your blogs--you are hilarious!!! no really I love how you phrase things. Chuckle turning to full on laughing...!!!!

My body is conspiring against me and went up and up and then fell yesterday just to get me in a false sense of security so it could 'slam' me today with a 1.1 kg increase.

Just another chance for a laugh...she says hysterically...!!!!

I'll keep this short as I know you are short on patience...

    Today was going to be the day I ate clean but a friend was stopping by for coffee and to taste my lemon bars. No I did not have to join her and in fact I should not have even made them. Now I am mad cause I have lost a valuable day in my efforts and I am worried about losing ground in my weight loss efforts and I do not want to go there again.

You know what to do and sometimes things don't turn around exactly in the time frame we expect but rest assured your efforts will be rewarded.....you can do this...you have done it!

    That sucks and is quite discouraging, I know. All I can say is, one day at a time. You will get there eventually. I hope all this pain goes away soon so you can get back to "exerting yourself".
