Water Advisory...

Saturday, December 21, 2013

Well, the village I live in is under a water advisory, because the sewer system is having a hard time keeping up with the rain and snow melt. Not a boil water order yet, just a call to minimize water usage. The snow has pretty much all melted, and it has been raining pretty much non stop all day (and most of yesterday). The creeks are running really high, and the entire region is under a flood watch. Flood stage on one of the local creeks is 10 feet, and they are predicting it will get to 12 feet. Might not be such a merry Christmas for some people.

The nice thing about the warmer temps and the snow melting is that I got out for a run today. Sure, it was raining, but I don't melt. I only managed 1.5 miles, but since I haven't gone for a run of any length in over 2 weeks I am thinking that isn't so bad. Not that I ran the whole thing, but I think I managed to run about 3/4 of it.

Had lunch with mom and dad today. I made vegetable soup and made up salads with kiwi and pear slices for dessert. It was a short visit as they were heading off to the market after lunch. I like making lunch for them. I sometimes get tired of cooking for just myself, so it is a nice change of pace.

I have been trying to walk at least 10 minutes out of every hour I am awake. I managed to do it yesterday, but I was a little short in the 1pm slot today. I did walk at 3pm, then went for my run, so I guess that makes up for the hour I was a little short. Those short walks add up fast. I was actually surprised at how many miles I have been averaging the last few days.

sorry to hear about flood watches this time of year-scary enough when it is warm, but in winter- yeesh- frightening! hope that the water crests lower than anticipated and every one stays safe.
you continue to inspire me everyday with how you put movement on the top of your priority list, and the creative ways you get it done. I still struggle with putting my intentions in motion with such diligence. thankyou for the way you blog- ordinary stuff- about ordinary days and how that has ultimately transformed you into an extraordinary individual, your example helps to push me forward.
