I think this is a stressful time of year for many people. I know that I am not the only one that has pressure at work and then with my family. Not bad things necessarily because I am happy to have a job and I love my family, but a lot to do.
One thing that I have successfully applied to my day to day living (most of the time) is doing things with a happy heart. What does that mean? About 10 years ago, I watched the movie about the life of Ghandi. I am not going to get this quote right from the movie. So I will paraphrase it.
Ghandi's wife is not happy about doing something, she is doing the task but she is complaining. Ghandi looks at her and says - do it with love or not at all. Profound, think about this - we have CHOICES!!!!!
There are many things I have applied this to. Cooking dinner, doing laundry, taxing children around, taking the dog out really early in the morning, work projects, exercising etc. I do these things with what I call a happy heart. I feel grateful and happy to do these things.
It may seem really silly to some people, but this has made a big difference in my life. It changes your paradigm. And here's the thing, if I don't feel like I can do something with a happy heart I don't do it. Life changing!
