3 food groups

Thursday, December 19, 2013

Today's Elf for Health Challenge is talk about your three favorite food groups.
1. Protein-essential for building and repairing muscles. After those tough workouts, I love protein pancakes (made with Plant Fusion protein powder) or chicken...depending on the time of day:)
2. Veggies-filling at least 1/2 my plate is typical. I eat salads for lunch every day and change it up for dinner. Tonight 1/2 a butternut squash.
3. Fruit-I love fruit. I snack on it throughout the day, always have some at breakfast, and love changing it up for smoothies. Current favs: apples, pears, and frozen cherries in smoothies.

What are your 3 favorite food groups?

Spin tonight and 1 day til break!! I just might make it:)
2386.45 miles for the year
Let's see if I can get those 14 miles in before the year's end!

I love veggies! I am a vegan, and I eat so much fruits and vegetables, and love them all!

I agree on all points but I'm sorry, did you say you put chicken in your pancakes????? That sounds interesting!

I'm definitely a fruit girl, I get my veggies in too but fruits are my things. I do a lot of salads.

Carbs carbs and more carbs. Kidding, I know they are important for energy and brain function so I keep it in moderation, get the complex carbs in as often as possible.

You are a great example to follow.

Veggies - I eat those all the time -fresh, baked, grilled, sautéed, name it, I eat.
Fruit - I eat a banana with my cereal or oatmeal in the morning and then chop up different fruits and keep them in a Tupperware on my desk for munching throughout the day. Right now my faves are apples, pears, oranges...
Protein - Dairy, Beans, and Nuts...sometimes fish but rarely.

And here I thought you'd talk about fat, sugar and chocolate emoticon or maybe salt. Have a good day - only one more until winter break for you emoticon The school where my daughter subs in only off through the first of the year - all the others are going through the next weekend - oh well...glad for the days off.
By the way like your fruits and butternut squash; I'm working my way through the humongous one which had to go in the freezer.
