Bright and sunny...got to love it.

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

It is always weird when we stay here in Ajijic Mexico during the holidays. There is not near the commercial aspect here. You are bombarded with gift giving and all the normal trappings of the holidays up north. I find that it is more about getting together with friends and sharing hugs and love. We have been invited to several cocktail parties and such and it's nice to plan on seeing those you love. I go into this knowing that this will be the first year where I won't be drinking or eating what everyone else enjoys but I have got it down to a real science and just take my own snacks that are gluten free. Friends know me and don't mind at all. And the not drinking thing doesn't bother me at all until the party goes on too long and people get silly. But my DH knows this gets on my nerves and he always is willing to leave. So lucky to have his support. One of the parties is right next door so when people get silly I can just walk home and DH can continue on if he likes.

Looking forward to my walk today. It's a beautiful clear bright and sunny day. Then we get together with dear friends for lunch at a favorite place where I enjoy their grilled Mahi fish tacos.

Have a wonderful day.
Sallie

That's exactly the way it should be . . . about fellowship with family and friends. Glad that your DH is so supportive of your healthy lifestyle. Mine too. Makes a huge difference. HUGS

The bright and sunny is why I live in Florida. It did get down to the high 40's last night but up in the 70's as the day progresses. Enjoy the holiday parties.

So glad you have an out when the people get out of hand. I could never see the attraction in consuming alcohol. I never liked the taste of it so had no problem leaving it alone. That is great you can take your own food. Hope you enjoy yourself!
After an initial early morning snowstorm, its bright and sunny here too now, just super cold.
Enjoy your walk and meal!

We get so brainwashed about what the holidays "should" be like - I love the slower pace in Mexico and more religious aspect of it, that is what Christmas is really about, not the tons of presents, parties etc.
You gave a good plan for dealing with the parties!
