I never claim to be an expert in anything. When I took my new position I had several teachers say "You're the expert." My response was always "We will work on this together." Yes, I have taken many classes (I have two masters degrees), yes, I have three certifications (Personal Training, Youth Exercise, and Fitness Nutrition), but that is simply because I love learning. I love learning about things that are of interest to me.
Over the summer I got the three fitness certifications listed above, Getting those certifications is one of the best things I have ever done. They have lead me to the YMCA where I work part time as a trainer and fitness instructor. I create boot camp workouts that according to some are "no joke." I listen to the members of the YMCA who are concerned with losing weight, getting in shape and bored with their current routine. I offer advice and most importantly I listen.
I love reading about anything health and fitness related. I find keeping current is a must to give people the most recent research to help them. I love seeing progress. I love hearing someone say they got the scale moving again or that their pants are lose.
Below are some quick and easy pointers you can add to your current routine:
*Go longer or harder. It will help move the scale and keep your mind from getting too used to a routine.
*Track your calories. Spark is so good with the nutrition tracker and fitness tracker. I use them every day. It keeps me accountable and helps me realize just how much I really did and ate.
*Try something new. Your body gets used to things very quickly. It knows the moves coming up on a DVD. It knows you are going to run three miles three times a week. SHAKE IT UP:)

    Very cool tips! Combine strength training with cardio.....they go hand in hand. Read as much as you can always learn more about how to train. Make yourself get up and move throughout the day.

Oh, and do squats on a regular basis.....get your butt down to the ground with your thighs below parallel, then push back thing you can do for your body!

    Great tips! You are so right that our bodies get used to things quickly. I learned that a while ago when I got stuck on the same weight for a while. Once I started changing my workouts up, the pounds started dropping off again. Thanks for sharing!!

    Good tips -- especially the reminder to shake it up. Hoping that a dose of personal training will do just that. Even with as much time as I put in to aikido and as unpredictable as that can be, the body still gets used to it (except the new things which my mind has trouble comprehending - LOL) Thanks for all you do especially encouragement to us'ns.
