I've been away for a while

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

I've thought about writing a SparkPeople blog almost daily. I truly have missed my friends and support groups. It seems other things in my life took priority. I have been really, really busy.

We converted one of the bedrooms into a sewing room. Even though the room is small, I feel fortunate to even have my own room to sew in. In November I started taking a class at Craftsy.com to make a pair of fitted pants. I m not doing so well as I am on my fourth attempt. You make "trial" garments out of cheap fabric. These are called muslins.

I made a muslin skirt as a break in the pants process. After a few alterations the skirt fit wonderfully. I am sure glad it was muslin because it looked awful on me. emoticon At least I know I can't wear that style -- that is until l I lose about 15 pounds.

In the beginning of November I started the process of creating web page. As of yesterday I let people know it existed. Have a look at my page and tell me what you think. This the link: http://kathysthreads.wordpress
.com. I am not sure I want to have a weight loss page on it. Probably blogging about it here will be enough.

My daughter was too pregnant to want to go anywhere for Thanksgiving. My son had it catered at her house so she didn't have to do anything. Her brother, Dad & stepmom and in-laws were all there. We didn't join them because I felt it was too many people for her to have around. Don's son and DIL, who always had Thanksgiving at their home, were divorced this year so we had his family at our house. I spent three days cleaning the house!!! Don was so thrilled that we had his family over at our house -- the first time in around 15 years! Note: Don loved the sparkling clean house!

My son came back from Japan two days before Thanksgiving so I've been spending with him. His fiancÚ will be coming from Japan on December 23. It will be interesting because no one speaks Japanese. In fact, my son only speaks a little Japanese. It will be an interesting Christmas.

emoticon On December 11 my daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. It was necessary to do an emergency C-section. She is still recovering. The baby's name is Elliot Michael. I never realized how much of miracle bringing a new life into the world until it hit me that I gave birth to my daughter 37 years ago and now she has brought a new life into the world. I still cannot believe she had a baby. It seems like she just playing with a doll.

I haven't even thought about my SparkPeople goal to lose weight. The only thing I really do is drink a lot of water. I am going to do what I did 15 years ago. I am not going to even think about losing weight until January 1. Then my plan of action starts. I did it with Weight Watchers that time, but I don't know if I will go that route or just use SparkPeople. I have several weeks to think about it. Hopefully I will lose 20 pounds. I lost 40 earlier.

If you read to this point in my blog, thank you. I know it took a lot of time. It's late now and I need to go to bed. I wanted to let everyone know I missed them and that I am still alive.

It's so good to have you back!!! You were definitely missed, and now I can rejoice!!! My oh my, what a quandary you'll be in at Christmas. I remember when my brother's X-wife had her family come from Korea here, Yong (my SIL) spoke both Korean and English. However, whenever her family came to visit, she had to interpret for both families, as we were unable to understand anything. The only Korean word I know is Harmony, which means Grandmother.

emoticon on your grandson! That's just so emoticon seeing a brand new life come into the world!!! Enjoy every moment of it!!!

Be blessed,

Glad your back on Spark people. Congrats on the new grandson. Have a wonderful time with spending time with your son. It should be an interesting Christmas having a guest who only speaks Japanese---definately interesting.
